Albania 0-1 Spain: La Roja Glide to Perfection in Euro 2024 Group B

Spain surged into the knockout stage of Euro 2024, sustaining an unblemished record in Group B. With a match left, coach Luis de la Fuente reshuffled his lineup for the final group clash against Albania on Monday night. Despite the alterations, the result remained consistent as Spain triumphed in Düsseldorf. Ferran Torres completed a slick maneuver with an early goal, cementing Spain’s dominance and eliminating Albania from the tournament.

Group B victors Spain upheld their flawless record at Euro 2024, with Ferran Torres' first-half strike clinching the victory against underdog Albania.

Sylvinho’s squad began energetically, but Spain retained control. Mikel Merino's powerful header was thwarted before Torres received a pass from Dani Olmo and curled the ball into the net. From that moment, the three-time European champions coasted, although Merino and Torres squandered chances to extend the lead. Kristjan Asllani nearly equalized for Albania with a fierce shot saved just before halftime, sparking hope for The Eagles.

In the second half, Albania's substitute Armando Broja forced another superb save from David Raya, while Asllani fired a fierce strike just wide. Despite their industrious efforts, Albania found no reward, with Broja coming closest but denied by Raya. This defeat left Albania winless at major international tournaments.

Talking Point: Can Spain Repeat Thair 2008 success?

This marks only the second instance Spain has won all three group games at a European Championship, the first being in 2008 when they lifted the trophy. Based on this display, they have every chance to repeat that feat. Spain handled an Albania side that posed little threat, especially in the first half.

Importantly, Spain managed to rotate their squad extensively, making ten changes from their previous match. This ensures stars like Alvaro Morata, Lamine Yamal, and Rodri will be fresh for the last-16.

Player of the Match: Ferran Torres (Spain)

Ferran Torres dazzled, netting his 20th international goal in just his 44th appearance for Spain. His performance transcended the goal, showcasing an attacking prowess that troubled the Albanian defense throughout. At 24, Torres promises a long and successful career at the top level, exploiting spaces and creating shooting opportunities effortlessly.
