Andrea Belotti ignited the scoring for Fiorentina with a deft header just six minutes into the game. Atalanta swiftly answered through Ademola Lookman who equalized six minutes later. Yet, Nicolas Gonzalez reclaimed Fiorentina's lead on 19 minutes with a sharp volley.
Giorgio Scalvini drew Atalanta level again just after the half-hour mark. However, Fiorentina had the final say when Belotti pounced on a rebound to score from close range in first-half injury time.
Atalanta basked in a remarkable season, highlighted by their 3-0 triumph over Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Europa League final. This victory secured their spot in the UEFA Champions League for the 2024/25 season, cementing their fourth-place finish in Serie A. Fiorentina, on the other hand, faced disappointment with a loss to Olympiacos in the UEFA Europa Conference League final. Despite this setback, Fiorentina will return to the Conference League next season, thanks to Atalanta's Europa League success and the cascading European spots in the league.
