Arsenal won the second game of the Premier League season after they recorded a 2-0 win against Aston Villa at Villa Park on Saturday. Two second-half goals from Leandro Trossard and Thomas Partey made it possible for Mikel Arteta’s team to make it two wins in two games in the current campaign. The first half was pretty much an even affair, however, Arsenal was more efficient in front of goal in the second half and also more rigid at the back. The first half of the match was filled with activity from Aston Villa as they forced Arsenal back and had opportunities at the early stages of the game. Ollie Watkins will be left ruing of two clear sitters that he could have taken to turn the tide of the match. The first came in the 25th minute when he was through on goal but he chose to shoot wastefully wide of the post. Later, Watkins shot a great header which was then followed by a great save by Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya to keep the score level. Arsenal came out of the shell gradually and the goal came in the 68th minute. There was Leandro Trossard, who was brought in as a substitute only a few minutes before, and put his ball in the back of the net after a loose ball fell to him in the box. The Belgian forward was very calm and placed his shot beyond Aston Villa’s goalkeeper Emi Martinez to give the Gunners the lead and swing the balance in their favor. After this Thomas Partey gave the visitors the all-important second goal in the 77th minute with a good goal. Partey was set up with a perfectly weighted pass by Bukayo Saka just outside the penalty area and coolly slotted the ball into the bottom corner, leaving Martinez with no chance. The goal ended Villa’s chances of a fightback and gave Arsenal the dominance of the match that they needed. Aston Villa, who defeated Arsenal twice last season, once at the Emirates Stadium and once at Villa Park, will feel that they missed their chance to win this match. Watkins missed opportunities will without a doubt come back to haunt the team, and it was evident how Arsenal capitalized on Watkins’ misses immediately, and made the team pay. However, Arsenal’s ability to keep a level head and put away their chances was the major difference in the match. The Arsenal team is also preparing for the next matches and the fans should buy their Arsenal tickets for the next matches. Since the team has shown signs of early season form, the fans will be looking forward to seeing the Gunners strive for success this season. With back-to-back victories, Arsenal is sending a clear message to their rivals: They are eager and willing to play and fight in the English Premier League and fight for the title this season.
