The new format of the UEFA Champions League starts this year, and the draw made on Thursday has seen some interesting fixtures for the European clubs. The teams are divided into a single table and each side meets eight opponents – four at home and four away.
The first eight winners of this phase will automatically qualify for the knockout stage while the next 16 teams will have to play a round of 32 to qualify for the knockout stage of 16 teams. The above structure will be implemented from 2024 to 2027 to increase the drama in the tournament.
This draw produced some mouth-watering matches, with Gianluigi Buffon and Cristiano Ronaldo participating in the proceedings. Manchester City, who featured in the final last season, have been paired against Paris Saint-Germain while Arsenal has been pitted against Inter Milan.
