Cesc Fabregas has been appointed as the manager of Serie A newcomers Como, following the promotion of their caretaker manager Osian Roberts to head of development. Fabregas, who was the club's assistant manager and part of the playing staff during their successful promotion campaign, takes on the role ahead of Como's return to Italy's top flight after a 21-year absence.

The 37-year old Spanish has committed to a four-year deal that will see him coach the team in their next season in Serie A. Como’s return to the Serie A In this coming season was characterized by big names signings that include Pepe Reina, and more big names are expected to join the team including Raphael Varane who played for Manchester United.

Fabregas expressed his enthusiasm in a club statement: "I am so happy to be starting this season as head coach and I thank the ownership group for trusting me with this position. The decision to appoint Fabregas came after Osian Roberts moved to his new role.
