Dembele Hits Brace as PSG Edge Out Saint-Etienne

Ousmane Dembele showcased his brilliance with a first-half double, helping Paris Saint-Germain secure a 2-1 victory over Saint-Etienne at Parc des Princes. This result extends PSG’s lead at the top of Ligue 1 to seven points at the halfway mark of the season.

Dembele’s First-Half Dominance

The French winger wasted no time asserting his influence. On 13 minutes, Dembele cut in from the right flank and fired a low shot past the Saint-Etienne goalkeeper for the opener. PSG doubled their advantage midway through the first half when a penalty was awarded following a handball by Leo Petrot, confirmed by VAR. Dembele calmly converted, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way and marking his 10th Ligue 1 goal of the season.

Bradley Barcola thought he added a third just before halftime, but the goal was disallowed after a VAR review, leaving the scoreline at 2-0 going into the break.

Saint-Etienne’s Spirited Response

Saint-Etienne, currently battling relegation, showed resilience under their new coach, Eirik Horneland. They managed to halve the deficit in the 64th minute when Zuriko Davitashvili curled a stunning free-kick into the net from 25 meters. Despite their efforts, Paris Saint-Germain’s  defense held firm, ensuring the visitors couldn't find an equalizer.

PSG’s Unbeaten Streak Continues

With this victory, PSG remain undefeated in Ligue 1 this season, having won 13 of their 17 matches. They are firmly on course to secure their 11th Ligue 1 title in 13 years, showcasing dominance domestically.
