England 1-2 Spain – Mikel Oyarzabal Scores in the 86th Minute to Secure Spain Euro 2024 Championship

The decisive winning moment in the Euro 2024 final was in the 86th minute, with Spain scoring to lift the prestigious trophy. Nico Williams scored the first goal with a beautiful header in the 47th minute of the match but the score was equalized by Cole Palmer in the 73rd minute of the match after coming off the bench. However, Mikel Oyarzabal scored the final goal in the 86th minute, which allowed Spain to celebrate their fourth European Championship in Berlin.

Oyarzabal, who entered the field as a substitute, put the finishing touch on Marc Cucurella’s pass on 86 minutes and thus gave the Spnish a 2-1 win over an energetic but helpless England. This win contributes to Spain’s tally which now consists of four European Championship titles.

After a rather dull first 45 minutes, the Spaniards upped their game in the second half, and Nico Williams opened the scoring from Yamine Lamal’s assist as soon as the second half started. England demonstrated character with Cole Palmer equalising from the 30-metre range barely five minutes after coming on from the bench with an injury to captain Harry Kane. However, Spain looked better all the time and constantly created threats to England’s backline.

Spain, who lost Manchester City star Rodri after he suffered an injury at the start of the second half, took the incident as a stimulant. Nico Williams scored a beauty to put Spain in front and although England tried to come back it was too little too late. Specifically, Williams and Lamal stood out as being excellent, and both caused numerous issues for the English defense.

Spain won Euro 2024 and became 4 times European Championship and England failed to win a major trophy again. They did not win since 58 years, and they have once again suffered a sad loss in the European final, after the match in the Euro 2020 championship, in which they lost to Italy on penalties at Wembley.

Player of the Match: Nico Williams of Spain

Nico Williams was particularly effective for Spain as he put the team in the lead and was a menace to the English defense at various occasions. Yamine Lamal also performed well and this ensured Spain showed the world that they were deserving of their title as European champions. Even though they lost Rodri, Spain was able to continue on and just dominate the match, and Williams was the key in this.
