Last season, Gross was an important player for Brighton under the manager Roberto de Zerbi, playing 36 games in the English Premier League, and scoring four goals with three assists. He signed for Brighton in the summer of 2017 from Ingolstadt for a £3 million deal and has played for Brighton 261 times, scoring 32 goals and creating 52. He managed to win the fans’ player of the season in two occasions, during the 2017-18 and 2023-24 season respectively.
Gross was an all-rounder and he played in central midfield, out wide, and even as a full back while at the Amex Stadium. Borussia Dortmund's managing director, Lars Ricken, expressed his delight at the signing: ”Pascal has become one of the best in the recent years and he will make us more stable and flexible, help us with his experience and will be very positive as a leader. It is a great pleasure for us that Pascal is a fan of BVB since years and he decided for our club at the earliest stage. ”
BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl added: ”We are very happy that we can get Pascal back to the Bundesliga. With his composure, his precise passing, and his positioning, he offers new qualities. But Pascal is also a fox and exudes direct and indirect goal danger in many places. We are sure that he will add depth to our game and strengthen us with his desire to win and personality.”
Expressing his excitement about the move, Gross said: “I am really excited about BVB Personally, this transfer is a big thing for me because I supported Dortmund since my childhood I will do my best to pay the club back for their trust with my style and I am impatiently waiting to step on the Signal Iduna Park with my new teammates and work with all the team to achieve our big goals.”
