Kylian Mbappe Set to Miss Atletico Madrid Derby Due to Injury, Real Madrid Confirm

Real Madrid has announced that forward Kylian Mbappe will be out of the next Madrid derby against Atletico due to a “biceps femoris” injury in his left leg. The French star got the knock during the weekend during Real Madrid’s 3-2 win against Alaves where he scored a goal, and will be out for about three weeks. This is a great disheartening moment for the team and fans who were anticipating the much-anticipated derbies accompanied by Real Madrid tickets.

Mbappe felt discomfort and was replaced in the 80th minute and tests revealed the injury. In a club statement, Real Madrid announced: "After tests performed today by Real Madrid’s Medical Services on our player Kylian Mbappe, he has been found to have a strain to the biceps femoris muscle on his left leg. His progress will be monitored.”

This means Mbappe will be out of not only the match against Atletico Madrid but also the next La Liga match against Villarreal for Real Madrid. Those fans who have managed to get Real Madrid tickets to these matches will be let down by the absence of their leading striker who has been in a rich vein of form scoring six goals in the last five matches.

Mbappe is also likely to be out of Real Madrid’s next UEFA Champions League group-stage match against Lille. However, Madrid has come from a European win against VfB Stuttgart and as such, they will be looking to continue with their good form even without their main player. Anyone who has Real Madrid tickets for this Champions League game will be eager to watch how the team plays without Mbappe on the field.

Real Madrid today occupies second place in La Liga, trailing Barcelona by one point. Atletico Madrid is scheduled to play Celta Vigo on Thursday, and if they lose the Madrid derby, Real Madrid will be four points above them, and they will sitting in third place. It will be up to manager Carlo Ancelotti to look for other options when Mbappe is out, as fans keep going to the Bernabéu with Real Madrid tickets.
