Manchester City Set for Transfer Battle With Manchester United for Jeremie Frimpong

Manchester City are highly interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong, but are expected to face competition from their Manchester rivals Man United.

The Citizens are mainly interested in signing Frimpong as Kyle Walker, who is currently on loan at Milan, is expected to leave the club next season, and Manchester City needs a new right-back.

Bayer Leverkusen value Frimpong at 42 million pounds, as he’s considered one the best right-backs in the world and was crucial in Bayer Leverkusen’s unbeaten league season.

Manchester City will have to beat their rivals Manchester United, as Man United manager Ruben Amiron sees Frimpong as the perfect player for the wing-back position in his system.

Jeremie Frimpong: Background and Career Overview

Jeremie Frimpong is a 24 year old Dutch player who plays as a right-back for German champions Bayer Leverkusen.

He graduated from Manchester City academy but failed to make a breakthrough there, and he was signed by Celtic in 2019.

The Dutch right-back signed for Bayer Leverkusen in 2021 after playing for Celtic for two years, where he played great and showed great performances.

However, it was at Bayer Leverkusen where he exploded, as he put on amazing performances and was a crucial part of Bayer Leverkusen’s first-ever league title last season, where they won the German double and ended the league unbeaten.

Frimpong is known for being an attacking full-back who has great pace and a powerful physique, making him a perfect fit for Pep Guardiola’s system.

Manchester City vs Manchester United: Who’s More Likely to Sign Frimpong?

Both Man City and Man United have a chance to sign the right-back, but how do they compare?

  • Financial Power Comparison: Manchester City are expected to have stronger Financial power, as they are in a better financial position compared to The Red Devils.
  • First-Team Chances: Manchester United are expected to have the advantage when it comes to offering first-team football for the player.
  • Competition for Trophies: Manchester Untied are currently in a rebuilding phase, with the team not expected to battle for major trophies soon, while Manchester City are expected to compete for the Premier League and Champions League next season.

At the end of the day, the decision is expected to be in the hands of the player and will depend on him favouring guaranteed first-team football or competing for the trophies immediately.
