Mohamed Salah was in form as Liverpool demolished Manchester United 3-0 at the Old Trafford, which is a big blow for Erik ten Hag. Salah provided two assists for Luis Diaz and was on target himself, ensuring Liverpool continued with their unbeaten run in the English top-flight football league under the new manager Arne Slot. This win puts Liverpool on the same nine points as Manchester City on the Premier League table but behind on goal difference.
The match was completely dominated by Liverpool with a 23-minute rampage in which we were able to see the brilliance of Salah and Diaz. Casemiro was responsible for two blunders from which Salah played a part in both first-half goals. Diaz scored twice and Manchester United were punished for their attacking intent by Salah’s invention; Manchester United’s only chance of reorganization at halftime by replacing Casemiro with Toby Collyer proved futile. Salah made the score 3-0 about a minute to the 60th-minute mark, making the Egyptian the main troublemaker for the Red Devils.
United began the match well, and the new executives of the club, including Jim Ratcliffe, were present in the stand. However, their defense line was quite vulnerable, especially when Liverpool was counter-attacking. The home fans started to exit the stadium much earlier before the end of the full-time time as it was evident that the Ten Hag team could not stand a chance against Liverpool’s free-flowing attacking football.
Arne Slot has been at the helm of affairs of Liverpool and has not lost a single match in his first three matches. Liverpool has now risen to the second position in the English Premier League log, behind only Manchester City on goal difference, and as ruthless as they were under Jurgen Klopp.
Liverpool had more of the ball and created more chances and their free-kick by Trent Alexander-Arnold which was disallowed for offside showed that they are the team that is more likely to score. Federico Chiesa, who was an onlooker in this match, is expected to bolster Liverpool’s attack even more shortly.
United’s defense was a problem all through the match especially after Casemiro made some errors that resulted in Liverpool’s first two goals. However, despite arriving in the build-up to the second goal seeming to be well-placed, Liverpool’s quick passing created a gap for Diaz to put the ball in the back of the net. This was compounded by Ten Hag’s decision to bring Casemiro off the pitch at halftime and also fail to stop more damage.
