Michael Olise Joins Bayern Munich from Crystal Palace on Five-Year Deal - 'It's a Great Challenge'

Michael Olise has made a high-profile switch to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich from Crystal Palace. The French right winger, one of the most coveted players in this transfer window, has opted to sign for Vincent Kompany's Bayern, choosing them over significant interest from Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Newcastle United.

Olise, whose future was the subject of much speculation this summer, has now committed to Bayern Munich on a five-year deal until 2029. The 21-year-old's talent attracted attention from several Premier League heavyweights, but it was Bayern who ultimately secured his signature for an undisclosed fee.

The move marks a new chapter for Olise, who joined Crystal Palace from Reading in 2021 under Patrick Vieira's management. Despite injury setbacks, Olise impressed with 10 goals and six assists in 19 appearances last season, making him a standout performer for the Eagles.

Bayern Munich's New Signing Speaks Out

In his first comments as a Bayern player, Olise expressed his excitement about the move: "The talks with FC Bayern were very positive, and I’m very happy to now be playing for such a big club. It's a great challenge, and that's exactly what I was looking for. I want to prove myself at this level and play my part in ensuring that we win as many titles as possible with our team in the coming years.”

Bayern Munich board member for sport, Max Eberl, highlighted Olise’s potential impact: "Michael Olise is a player who can make the difference and attracted great interest with his style of play. We want new impetus in our team, new energy, new ideas – that’s what players like Michael Olise stand for. During the talks, he quickly signalled that he really wanted to join FC Bayern. We’re very much looking forward to him. He will enrich our game.”

Christoph Freund, FC Bayern sporting director, added: "Michael is quick, tricky, a goal threat and very versatile in attack. His goals and assists stats are already outstanding. At the age of 21, Michael is already very advanced, but is also hungry and still has a lot of potential. Fans come to the stadium to see players like Michael Olise."
