Manchester City 1-1 Everton: Haaland’s Missed Penalty Adds to City’s Frustration

Manchester City’s struggles continued as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Everton at the Etihad Stadium. Bernardo Silva gave City an early lead, but Iliman Ndiaye’s equalizer and a missed penalty by Erling Haaland left the champions without a win in five matches across all competitions.

Bernardo Silva’s Early Strike

Man City started strong, with Bernardo Silva opening the scoring in the 14th minute. Silva capitalized on Jeremy Doku’s precise pass, navigating through Everton’s defense and finishing from a tight angle with a slight deflection off Jarrad Branthwaite.

Despite dominating possession, MCFC missed several chances to extend their lead. Silva came close again after a well-placed pass from Phil Foden, but his shot from close range flew over the bar.

Ndiaye Levels for Everton

Everton found their way back into the match in the 36th minute. Abdoulaye Doucoure’s deep cross met Iliman Ndiaye, who struck a brilliant half-volley into the top corner, leaving the Etihad crowd stunned.

Haaland’s Penalty Woes

Manchester City FC had a golden opportunity to regain their lead five minutes into the second half. Vitalii Mykolenko’s foul on Savinho resulted in a penalty for City. However, Erling Haaland’s low effort was saved by Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. Moments later, Haaland found the back of the net, but the goal was ruled offside.

Man City’s Winless Run Continues

This result extends Man City’s underwhelming run, with only one Premier League victory in their last nine games. Meanwhile, Everton earned their third consecutive draw, showing resilience under pressure.

Up next, Manchester City travels to face Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Sunday, December 29. Everton, on the other hand, will host Nottingham Forest at Goodison Park on the same day.
