Real Madrid’s latest signing Kylian Mbappe has stated that he does not feel any pressure at the Spanish giants and wants to play his own game. Mbappe, who signed for Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer this summer ended his La Liga goal drought with two goals in a 2-0 win over Real Betis on Sunday evening to ease some pressure at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Mbappe revealed that he did not lose confidence even when he failed to score in the first three league games including the ones against Mallorca and Las Palmas. After the match against Betis, he told the reporters, “The pressure I have is to fit into the team. I have been scoring goals throughout my career and I will score goals for sure. Goals will come. It is unusual for me not to score in three games, but it is alright. I have the faith of my teammates. ”
Mbappe added “There’s no pressure; it’s football. I have quality. I’m here to be Kylian. There’s no pressure. I’m happy and I want to work.”
He also said to Real Madrid TV, “It was a great moment. I have been waiting to score in this legendary stadium, the best stadium in the world. The fans are very supportive of me even when I was not scoring.”
Mbappe played well and according to the manager Carlo Ancelotti, the French forward was very efficient and hardworking. He was also happy with Brazilian forward Vinicius Jr who had allowed Mbappe to take the penalty which resulted to his second goal of the match. “We have never pushed him to score goals,” said Ancelotti during the press conference. ” Kylian played well. He was efficient in the final third, scored his goals well, and worked hard. It was good for him to get on the scoresheet, but we look at the overall contribution. Vinicius was very generous, allowing Kylian to take the penalty. They get along well.
The victory over Betis took Real Madrid to the second position on the La Liga table with eight points, but still four points behind leaders FC Barcelona.
