The structure of the Santiago Bernabéu, Real Madrid’s home ground, is still being modernized, but the final touches are still being put in occasionally. The project is being spearheaded by Markus Pfisterer and Martin Glass of GMP Architects; Pfisterer recently spoke to Architectural Digest España about the current restoration work. The stadium is already used for games, but the final reveal of the stadium in its fully renovated form is still to come. Those interested in the new stadium live can purchase Real Madrid tickets at the best price with 1BoxOffice.
A New Face for the Bernabéu
Pfisterer was asked about the concept and purpose and he said that this project is about creating a modern look for Real Madrid because its current branding is pompous. The modifications aimed to create several significant changes, such as a brand-new front and a roof that could be opened and closed, for aesthetic and practical purposes. One of the most remarkable upgrades is the hypogeum – which is a subterranean storage system that allows for the stadium’s new generation of retractable pitch technology.
Current Progress and Final Work
The construction effort has been compared to that of an airport in that there can be operation before everything is fully built. Pfisterer said that most of the current work is still concentrated on the southern part of the stadium where there are many activities of finishing. Some of the current activities include washing walls, wrapping pipes and cables, and fixing the final restroom facilities. In addition to this, the exterior promenade of the stadium has to be ‘normalized’ and the Real Madrid logo and inscription on the façade have not been put up.
Another important concern is the lighting system through which the provision of an extraordinary display of illumination during matches and events is expected.
Future Prospects: Soundproofing for Concerts
Real Madrid is also opening up for soundproofing of the Bernabéu for concerts without affecting the neighbors. If this enhancement is done it may slow down the process of the stadium being fully renovated even further.
Live the Bernabéu
Although the final works are still being carried out, people can already attend matches at the Bernabéu and marvel at the new looks. To book Real Madrid tickets at cheaper prices, visit 1BoxOffice- an official ticket seller for all Real Madrid home matches and other matches.
